The ZeppTone is designed around the sound and feel of early Page–style tones—the kind of explosive, touch-responsive gain heard on tracks like “Communication Breakdown,” “Good Times Bad Times,”
and “Dazed and Confused.”
Those tones, where cranked-amp character and raw saturation merge into one powerful voice, were the foundation of this design. From that starting point, the circuit expands into a much wider range of drive and fuzz textures, all while staying completely controllable at any setting and any volume.

Instead of stacking separate fuzz and overdrive pedals, this design blends both into a single, interactive gain structure. The result is the harmonic richness, aggression, and dynamic response of a pushed amp with added fuzz texture—the kind of sustain and bite associated with classic lead tones like “Heartbreaker”
and “Whole Lotta Love,”
but with modern control and consistency.
Independent fuzz and gain controls for layered saturation.
The Gain control shapes the overdrive character, affecting attack, punch, and amp-like breakup. The Fuzz control increases saturation and harmonic density, adding grit and sustain. Because these controls are interactive, adjusting one reshapes how the other responds, allowing everything from gritty rhythm drive to thick, saturated lead tones reminiscent of early hard-rock recordings.
Body and Shift toggles for multiple voicings and gain structures.
The Body toggle switches between two output capacitor paths, offering either tighter, more focused response or fuller low-end for heavier riff tones. The Shift toggle changes the midrange focus and gain structure, giving you two distinct flavors of drive—open and cutting for articulate rhythm parts, or thicker and more forward for lead work that needs to jump out of the mix.
Dual volume controls that shape feel, not just loudness.
Output and Level are interactive, letting you control overall volume while also adjusting how hard the circuit pushes your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain. Different combinations affect compression, punch, and sustain, allowing you to dial in pushed-amp feel without needing excessive stage volume.
Bias and Tone for detailed texture shaping.
Bias adjusts the operating point of the fuzz section, changing how smooth, compressed, or aggressive the saturation feels. Tone controls overall brightness, making it easy to match different guitars, pickups, and amplifier types.
