HOTLANTA
HotLanta Overdrive – Original
The HotLanta Overdrive was designed around the circuit, voicing, and response of the Mason-Dixon Fillmore East Edition amplifiers that we build. The goal was not to create a traditional overdrive pedal, but to translate the behavior of those amplifiers into a pedal format.
Because of that design approach, HotLanta functions very differently from a standard overdrive. Instead of relying on your amplifier to supply breakup, the HotLanta is built to replicate an amplifier’s gain structure, compression, and harmonic response on its own.
Amplifier-Based Design
HotLanta is amplifier-reactive because it is amplifier-derived. The way the gain develops, the way notes compress, and the way harmonics bloom are all based on how the Mason-Dixon Fillmore East Edition amplifiers behave when pushed.
The result is a drive sound that feels wide, responsive, and natural — with sustain and saturation that build progressively rather than abruptly. Chords stay full and controlled, while single notes swell and bloom the harder you play.
This is not a pedal that simply pushes the front end of an amp. It is designed to behave like the amp itself.
Designed for Clean and High-Headroom Amplifiers
HotLanta is especially well suited for players using clean or high-headroom amplifiers. In these setups, the pedal becomes the primary source of drive, allowing the amp to remain clean while still delivering the sound and feel of a cranked Fillmore East–style amplifier.
Many players prefer HotLanta specifically for cleaner platforms because it provides the depth, compression, and harmonic richness of an amplifier running wide open — without needing excessive volume.
Dynamic Response and Harmonic Bloom
The pedal is highly responsive to picking dynamics and guitar volume changes. Rolling your guitar volume back cleans things up naturally, while turning it up introduces saturation and tube-like compression. The harder you pick, the more the notes bloom and swell.
Harmonics remain pronounced and natural, giving even non-tube amplifiers a more responsive, amp-like feel.
Voice Control and Dual Drive
The Voice control allows you to shape the upper response and presence, dialing in vintage speaker-style characteristics similar to classic JBL-type drivers. The midrange and highs remain saturated and sustaining without becoming harsh, and the overall balance stays musical across the entire range.
HotLanta also includes a second drive stage that can be engaged when additional gain or sustain is needed. This works like an added channel, making it ideal for solos or thicker lead tones without stacking multiple pedals.
* Engineered for dynamic response and vintage coloration. Completely sensitive to the volume and tone knobs of your guitar. The Voice control allows you to dial in a vintage speaker quality. Similar to an old JBL D120. The mid-range and highs are soaked in sustain and saturation. The balance is exceptional.
* This Dual Drive Pedal gives you the added benefit of having an extra gain stage when you want a little more. Perfect for solo’s or added drive without having to stack extra pedals.
* Every Component used to build HotLanta is hand picked and tested for exact measurements.
